Contract Mechanical Design Engineer - Aerospace

South Molton, Devon | 6-Month+ PAYE Contract | Immediate Start

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support a growing production and sustaining engineering workload within a leading aerospace manufacturing organisation in South Molton. This is an initial 6-month PAYE contract with the potential for extension. The role is ideally site-based, although a 3-day onsite / 2-day remote working pattern may be considered once established in the role.

Rates starting from £35ph PAYE (equivalent of £46.50 UMB/LTD) depending on experience. Opportunity to advance holiday pay into hourly rate or have as accrued and take paid time off.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the Design Engineering representative to the Material Review Board (MRB)
  • Assess engineering change requests and provide technical analysis and justification
  • Support customer-driven engineering changes and documentation
  • Produce and update engineering drawings and CAD models
  • Support production, manufacturing and sustaining engineering activities
  • Collaborate with local and global engineering teams
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and engineering best practice
Required Experience
  • Mechanical design engineering experience within aerospace, defence or another regulated industry
  • Strong Creo and MicroStation skills (CATIA desirable)
  • Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation
  • Good understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis and DFMA principles
  • Experience working with PLM systems, ideally Enovia
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

This is an exciting time to join a growing aerospace site, and supporting the clients Titchfield site that is developing into a European Centre of Excellence. The successful candidate will play a key role supporting product and production engineering activities while working within a collaborative global engineering environment.
