An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Marine Electronics Engineer to join a well-established marine business supporting commercial and offshore vessels throughout the UK and overseas.

This role will suit a marine electronics professional with strong experience of navigation and communication systems, including radar, gyro compass, GPS, VHF and MF/HF radio systems, who enjoys a varied mix of installation, commissioning, fault finding and survey work.

The Role

  • Install, commission, service and maintain marine electronic, navigation and communication systems.
  • Undertake fault finding, repairs and upgrades onboard vessels and at customer sites.
  • Work on radar, sonar, GPS, ECDIS, gyro compasses, VHF/MF/HF radio systems, VDR and internal communication systems.
  • Carry out vessel surveys, radio surveys and VDR performance testing.
  • Ensure all installations comply with relevant maritime regulations and international standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineers undertaking complex installations, commissioning and fault-finding activities.
  • Produce service reports and technical documentation.
  • Travel regularly throughout the local area, with occasional UK and overseas travel.
  • Work outdoors and at height when required.
  • Participate in ad-hoc weekend and out-of-hours work.

Requirements

  • Proven experience within marine electronics, marine electrical or maritime engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of marine navigation and communication systems.
  • Experience with radar, gyro compass, GPS, VHF and MF/HF radio equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose, repair, install and commission marine electronic systems.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Valid passport.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Package

  • Salary from Β£46,000 DOE
  • Company van provided
  • 34 days holiday including public holidays
  • Pension: 4% employer contribution / 5% employee contribution
  • Occupational Sick Pay:
    • Up to 12 months' service: 1 month
    • 1-3 years' service: 2 months
    • 3+ years' service: 3 months
