Our client is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of ground investigation projects from its regional office in Harrogate. This permanent leadership role would suit someone with a background in geology, geotechnical engineering or a related discipline who can combine people leadership, commercial awareness and hands-on project oversight across a cross-sector environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, creating a supportive, collaborative and high-performing working environment
- Provide direction, coaching and mentoring to Project Managers and engineering teams
- Oversee the successful delivery of multiple ground investigation projects, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, on time and within budget
- Coordinate resources, support project planning and review technical outputs to maintain high standards of quality and compliance
- Build strong working relationships with clients, internal teams, technical specialists and other stakeholders
- Champion health, safety, environmental and quality standards through audits, reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage contract performance, cost control, forecasting, profitability and the effective use of operational resources
- Support recruitment, staff development, business development and the identification of new commercial opportunities
Job Requirements:
- Experience in a Contracts Manager, operational management or senior project delivery role within ground investigation or a related field
- Strong knowledge of geology, geotechnical engineering and ground investigation projects
- Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate multidisciplinary teams
- Understanding of contract management, cost control, forecasting and commercial performance
- Knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements within the construction, engineering or geotechnical sectors
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to manage competing priorities
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and a commitment to technical excellence
