Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Principal Engineer - Support Engineering (Maintenance Design) to join their team. This is a contract position for 12 months, primarily based in Barrow with potential travel to locations such as Brough or Prestwick. The role requires on-site presence one week a month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The individual will be the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the delivery and assurance of Maintenance Derivation and Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) outputs.
  • The individual will have a clear and demonstrable understanding of the relevant Ministry of Defence (MoD), industry and corporate standards that cover Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) activities, which they will apply.
  • The individual should have a comprehensive understanding of the definition, application and control of ILS management activities and they will be confident interfacing with internal stakeholders, suppliers and customers.
  • The individual will provide guidance to the Support and Product Engineering Managers as required to ensure.
  • Provide expert guidance in Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) across maintenance design projects.
  • Develop and implement strategies for Supportability and Logistics Engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with SQUEP and LSA requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to engineer sustainable maintenance solutions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and devise mitigation plans in line with CAT A standards.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation.
  • Support the management in achieving business objectives through innovative maintenance designs.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects, adhering to UK and ITAR guidelines.
  • Provide reviews of LORA, MTA & MTI deliverables, identifying:
  • Nuclear safety/containment interfaces.
  • Specific operational conditions needed for the task to be conducted.
  • Specific Base organisation skills needed for the task to be completed.
  • Support Equipment requirements and applicability.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven expertise in Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) within the Defence & Security sector.
  • Strong understanding of SQUEP and Logistic Support Analysis (LSA).
  • Familiarity with UK Eyes Only and ITAR regulations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing CAT A level maintenance solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
  • Understanding of JSP 935, DefStan 00-055, IEC 61508, DLF SSE GP.2.11 desirable.
  • Security clearance BPSS + SC is required.
