For this opportunity, it is working within critical national security, so the successful candidate will need to be a British national from birth due to the nature of the work. We are seeking a talented On-Prem DevOps Engineer to join a highly skilled team delivering complex software solutions within a secure and technically challenging environment. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge systems that support critical operational capabilities, helping to ensure software is securely integrated, tested and deployed before use.
You will collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers and customer stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges and drive continuous improvement across development and deployment processes.
The Opportunity
As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, managing and optimising deployment pipelines, supporting containerised applications and enhancing automation across the software delivery lifecycle. Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you will contribute to the successful integration, testing and deployment of mission-critical systems while helping to improve efficiency, reliability and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, manage and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Deploy and support containerised applications within secure environments
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve deployment and infrastructure issues
- Develop automation solutions to streamline software delivery and operational processes
- Collaborate with engineering teams, customers and key stakeholders
- Produce and maintain technical documentation
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practice
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration technologies
- Experience using Helm, Ansible and infrastructure automation tools
- Working knowledge of Docker and/or Podman
- Experience building, maintaining and supporting CI/CD pipelines
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a team
- Previous experience within DevOps, Platform Engineering or Software Engineering environments
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in secure or highly regulated environments
- Understanding of software deployment, integration and testing activities
- Exposure to Linux-based systems and infrastructure
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code practices and modern DevOps methodologies
