Teacher of Biology – St Margaret\’s Academy, Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland
35 hours per week, fixed term until 13 April 2026.
Position Overview
St Margaret\’s Academy is a Catholic secondary school located in Livingston. The school serves over 1100 students and has a strong reputation for high standards of conduct and confidence. The role involves teaching Biology to secondary school students within a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and assess high quality Biology lessons for Year 7–13 students.
- Collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure a positive student experience, aligned with curricular design principles and student entitlements.
- Contribute to the development of the school’s curriculum and support the achievement of all students.
Requirements
- Relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
- Written approval by the Catholic Church (required for this position).
- Full PVG Scheme Membership (£59) or existing member (£18); the cost is borne by the successful candidate.
- Previous experience teaching Biology and delivering engaging, student‑centred lessons.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates must join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing.
