Safety Inspection Officer

36 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year, Permanent

Road Asset Management Role

Working as a key member of the Roads and Transportation Service you will assist in the delivery of one of the key functions of the service. You will work directly to the Senior Engineer – Road Maintenance delivering the team\’s functions and road asset management activities including safety inspections, condition surveys and the preparation of minor works orders.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safety inspections and condition surveys.
• Prepare minor works orders.
• Assist in road asset management activities.
• Work directly with the Senior Engineer – Road Maintenance.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Educated to National 5 level or with equivalent transferable experience and skills. Subjects studied must include English, maths and a science/technical/computing subject.
• A full driving licence.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge of specialist computer software such as GIS, the Scottish Roadworks Register, asset management databases (e.g. Confirm).
• Working knowledge of health & safety legislation.
• Experience in local government and/or knowledge of local government working practices (desirable).
