An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1 Full time equivalent occupational therapist to join the Assessment and Review Team.

1 FTE Permanent Position

The chosen candidate will be supported by a Team Manager and will work in collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines within the team, comprising of Social Workers, Care Co‑ordinators, rehab and technology staff.

The team is responsible for the assessment for new community services, review of existing care at home services and oversight of unmet need in relation to Care at Home.

Assessments adopting a strength\’s‑based approach will be undertaken in a multi‑disciplinary context with a focus on collaboration between all members of the team to secure the best possible outcomes for the people being assessed.

Qualifications

  • A Degree Level Qualification in Occupational Therapy or other approved/recognised Occupational Therapy qualification is essential as is registration as an occupational therapist with HCPC.
  • Registration with the SSSC will be required; the successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date.
  • This position requires registration with the SSSC and is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.

Experience and Skills

  • The successful candidate will need to have the ability to work in partnership with other statutory and third sector organisations and should have extensive experience within an adults or older people\’s team setting.
  • The ability to travel to service user\’s homes across the whole of West Lothian will be essential.
  • Excellent I.T. and communication skills and report writing are essential.
