Our client is an established Commodity Trading Company, specializing in the supply of Raw Materials and Machinery to meet the needs of manufacturing companies.
Based in the London office, the Logistics Operations Coordinator will be the internal forwarder to the Group Company; in close collaboration with China and Germany offices, this person will be coordinating logistics activities with logistics providers, customers and suppliers. This is a broad and varied support role to assist with the efficient running of the Logistics Department of an International Commodity Trading Company, primarily supporting the logistics manager and team.
Key duties include:
- Create codes in SAP for new orders and update references and update the SAP system for shipments with schedule, rates and carrier information.
- Create sales and purchase orders in SAP and process transactions with final supplier invoice and send invoice to customer.
- Follow up with suppliers for readiness dates for shipments and update service providers.
- Send shipping instructions to service providers and follow up for booking.
- Follow up with logistics service providers for bill of lading and shipment status and update Longulf team and customers.
- Request freight rates from service provider and quote customers.
- Tracking of YGL shipments with the in-house and shipping line websites and update the YGL tracking sheet with shipping information.
- Maintain logistics providers invoice payments sheet and arrange payments through finance team.
- Download the expediting list from SAP, track and send weekly updates to documentary team on shipments status.
Key skills:
- Attention to detail, organised and able to use own initiative to deliver tasks.
- Relevant logistics background with knowledge of shipping documentation and incoterms advantageous (desirable but not essential).
- SAP knowledge preferred.
- Advanced Excel knowledge.
- Good time keeping and work prioritisation skills.
- Good knowledge of MS Office and able to work effectively on Excel.
- Understanding of how to properly communicate with suppliers and internal team.

- Self-motivation to work independently and as part of a team with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Good interpersonal skills and an interest in learning about supply chain and logistics.
