About Match Bingo

Match Bingo is building a new kind of real-money sports entertainment product: part football, part live game, part bingo, all built around the drama of what happens on the pitch. We are a small, well funded, ambitious startup with a live product, real users, and a growing roadmap. This is not a role for someone who wants to sit in a large corporate engineering function waiting for fully written tickets to arrive. It is a role for someone who wants to own meaningful parts of a product, make sensible technical decisions, and help shape how the apps evolve. We are also a team that believes strongly in using AI well. We expect modern developers to be curious, practical and positive about AI tools, using them to move faster, improve quality and explore ideas. We are looking for someone who already uses AI as part of their development workflow and is excited by how it can improve software delivery.

The role

We are looking for a Senior Angular Developer to work primarily on the Match Bingo apps. You will be hands-on in Angular and TypeScript, improving existing app functionality, building new features, and helping raise the quality, maintainability and performance of the front end. The right person will be comfortable working independently, asking good questions, making pragmatic decisions, and taking ownership without needing heavy management. You should enjoy the pace and variety of a startup, where priorities can move quickly and where good ideas are welcome from anywhere in the team. This is a senior role, so we are looking for someone who can do more than simply complete assigned tasks. You should be able to think through technical trade-offs, spot problems early, contribute to architecture decisions, and help create a better development culture as the team grows.

What you will be doing

  • You will develop and maintain Match Bingo’s Angular-based apps, working across new features, product improvements, performance enhancements and bug fixes.
  • You will work closely with backend developers and product stakeholders to integrate APIs, improve user journeys and make sure the app experience is smooth, stable and scalable.
  • You will help modernise and improve the front-end codebase, reducing technical debt where appropriate and making sensible decisions about structure, testing, performance and maintainability.
  • You will contribute to technical planning, estimation and product discussions, bringing an engineering perspective to decisions about what we build and how we build it.
  • You will take ownership of your work from idea through to delivery, including testing, review, release support and post-release improvements.
  • You may also support less experienced developers as the team grows, helping to set standards for code quality, documentation and engineering practice.

What we are looking for

  • You must have at least 3 years of commercial Angular development experience. Ideally, you will have broader front-end engineering experience beyond that.
  • You should have strong experience with:
    • TypeScript
    • JavaScript, HTML and CSS
    • Working with REST APIs
    • Git and modern development workflows
    • Debugging, testing and maintaining production applications
    • Building responsive, user-friendly interfaces
    • Writing clean, maintainable code
  • Experience with any of the following would be a bonus:
    • Ionic or other hybrid mobile app frameworks
    • App Store / Play Store release processes
    • Front-end performance optimisation
    • Automated testing
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • Working in a regulated, payments, gaming, gambling, fintech or real-money product environment
    • UX/product thinking
    • Legacy codebase improvement or technical debt reduction

The kind of person who will thrive here

  • You are a self-starter. You do not need every detail specified before you can make progress.
  • You are senior enough to know when to move quickly and when to slow down and do something properly.
  • You enjoy being close to the product, not hidden away from it.
  • You like working in smaller teams where your decisions matter and where you can have a visible impact.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and can turn a broad product goal into sensible technical steps.
  • You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical people.
  • You care about users, performance, reliability and the quality of the experience, not just whether the code technically works.
  • You are excited by the idea of joining a startup where there is plenty still to build, improve and shape.

Why join Match Bingo?

  • You will have real ownership from day one.
  • You will work on a live product with a clear roadmap and a lot of room for improvement, creativity and growth.
  • You will be close to the key decisions, rather than several layers removed from them.
  • You will help shape the future of the Match Bingo apps and the way the engineering team works.
  • You will be joining at a stage where the product is established enough to be real, but early enough for your contribution to make a significant difference.

Package

Salary is expected to be in the range of £65,000–£80,000 depending on experience, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate. The role is hybrid, with up to 3 days per week in the Tunbridge Wells office. The package includes pension, paid holiday and the opportunity to take on a high-impact senior engineering role in a growing startup.
