Compliance Manager (Part-Time)
Help us maintain the highest standards of compliance as we grow.
Why this role exists
Match Bingo is a licensed gambling operator regulated by the UK Gambling Commission.
Everything we do β from acquiring players and running games to managing customer funds
β operates within a detailed regulatory framework.
As the business grows, we're looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to oversee
our day-to-day compliance responsibilities, ensure we continue to meet our regulatory
obligations, and help embed compliance into the way we operate.
You'll be supported by an experienced gambling lawyer who provides specialist legal and
regulatory advice when required, but you'll take ownership of the compliance function on a
day-to-day basis.
This is a part-time role (up to three days per week) reporting directly to the CEO.
What you'll be doing
Regulatory compliance
β Manage the company's compliance with the UK Gambling Commission's Licence
Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP).
β Prepare and submit all regulatory returns, key event notifications and other statutory
filings on time.
β Monitor regulatory developments and update policies and procedures where
necessary.
β Act as the day-to-day contact for the UK Gambling Commission.
Safer gambling
β Maintain and continually improve our safer gambling framework, including
affordability assessments, customer interaction processes, self-exclusion, reality
checks and deposit limits.
β Ensure compliance with the LCCP and Remote Technical Standards (RTS).
β Review customer cases where intervention may be required and support operational
teams with appropriate actions.
β Deliver safer gambling training across the business.
Anti-money laundering
β Maintain the company's AML and Counter Terrorist Financing policies in line with
UKGC expectations and current guidance.
β Oversee customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, PEP and sanctions
screening.
β Review and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) where appropriate.
β Ensure compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act and Money Laundering
Regulations.
KYC and age verification
β Ensure robust age and identity verification processes remain effective and compliant.
β Work closely with Engineering and Operations to ensure systems and processes
continue to meet regulatory requirements.
Marketing compliance
β Review marketing campaigns and promotional material to ensure compliance with
UKGC guidance and the CAP and BCAP Codes.
β Ensure promotional terms and conditions are clear, fair and compliant.
β Support the Head of Growth & Retention on marketing compliance and regulatory
developments.
Data protection
β Act as the company's Data Protection lead.
β Maintain compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
β Keep the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA) up to date.
β Manage data subject requests and any data breach reporting requirements.
Information security
β Maintain our ISO 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS), ensuring
policies, controls and documentation remain current.
β Manage surveillance audits and recertification activities, acting as the primary contact
for external auditors.
β Maintain the information security risk register and ensure agreed actions are
completed.
β Commission annual penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, working with
Engineering to ensure identified issues are addressed appropriately.
β Support the ongoing development of information security awareness across the
business.
External relationships
β Work with our lawyer on complex legal or regulatory matters requiring specialist
advice.
β Liaise with external auditors, testing laboratories and dispute resolution providers
where required.
About you
You'll ideally bring the following:
β Strong knowledge of the UK Gambling Commission's regulatory framework and
practical experience of applying it within an online gambling business.
β A pragmatic approach to compliance. You understand how to manage risk without
creating unnecessary bureaucracy, and you're comfortable finding practical solutions
that work for both the regulator and the business.
β Confidence to challenge where necessary. You'll occasionally need to advise against
a proposal or recommend changes, and you're able to do so constructively.
β The ability to work independently. This is a standalone role, so you'll be comfortable
managing your own priorities while keeping the CEO informed of significant issues.
What we're looking for
Essential
β Experience in a compliance role within a UK Gambling Commission licensed
operator, ideally in remote gambling.
β Strong working knowledge of the LCCP, Remote Technical Standards and the wider
UK regulatory framework.
β Experience managing AML and CTF programmes, including customer due diligence,
SARs and staff training.
β Experience overseeing safer gambling processes, including affordability, customer
interaction and self-exclusion.
β Experience managing or maintaining an ISO 27001 Information Security
Management System, including audit programmes, risk management and penetration
testing.
β Comfortable working independently with regular access to senior management.
β Availability to work up to three days per week, with flexibility around regulatory
deadlines and business needs.
Desirable
β ICA Certificate or Diploma in Compliance, AML or a related discipline.
β Experience of GamStop and the National Self-Exclusion Scheme.
β Experience within online bingo or other remote gambling products.
β Data protection qualification such as CIPP/E or the BCS Certificate in Data Protection.
Package
β £40,000β£55,000 pro rata (based on three days per week)
β Flexible working pattern
β Remote-first, with occasional travel to our Tunbridge Wells office
β Direct access to the CEO with responsibility for the company's compliance function.
