Your Role:
- Hands-On Experience: Work alongside our talented Design team, gaining insight into the complete design process from concept to final product, developing your creative skills in a real-world environment.
- Creative Collaboration: Collaborate with Product teams to produce design packs and artwork, utilizing CAD software to create surface patterns and designs that align with current trends and Matalan’s customer preferences.
- Market Insights: Conduct benchmarking and competitor analysis to identify trends and missed opportunities, allowing you to contribute valuable insights that shape our product offerings.

We’re on the lookout for amazing candidates to join our Design team! Here’s what we’re hoping to find:
- A 2nd-year student, ideally studying Fashion, Textile, Surface Pattern Design, or any related field that requires a 12-month placement starting July 2025.
- Retail work experience would be advantageous, but it’s not essential.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of communicating clearly at all levels.
- Self-motivated and committed to continuously developing your design skills.
- Knowledge and experience of Adobe Software (especially Illustrator and Photoshop) and a good understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
