Overview As Vice President, Strategy Pricing & Interchange in the Revenue Optimization & Planning team in Core Payments, you will work at the heart of Mastercard’s business and enjoy a broad exposure to all its different aspects. You will work in a truly global context and focus on coordinating the development of a medium‑to‑long‑term revenue plan and driving the development of Mastercard core fee pricing initiatives and strategies and lead the Network Platforms & Services team. In this position you will be leading the pricing and interchange strategies for MasterCard products and services, with a strong focus on Mastercard’s core fees. You will design, assess and implement initiatives to strengthen MasterCard’s competitive position on product and global, regional, and country level. By enhancing and shaping our economics you play an important role in the development and adoption of innovative payment solutions. You will have broad exposure within the organization and work closely with commercial teams’ and Global & Regional Product management representatives and liaise with the key functional partners in Legal and Finance. You will serve as strategic thought partner for senior management and contribute to key projects for MasterCard’s strategy.
The ideal candidate will possess strong data analytical skills combined with a keen business acumen to drive pricing strategies that maximize revenue growth and market competitiveness. An in-depth understanding of current Mastercard economics is an absolute necessity for the role.
In the role you will:
- Identify and design global opportunities to strengthen Mastercard’s economics and to position them successfully for the future, considering competitive realities and emerging technologies.
- Conduct holistic assessments of the different initiatives considering multiple perspectives such as strategy, service value creation potential & customer willingness-to-pay analyses, risk, financial impact simulations and scenario analyses at country & customer level, feasibility.
- Prepare and present recommendations and support materials to senior management for decision-making.
- Play an active role in driving the initiatives from ideation to completion.
- Lead the Network Platforms & Services team.
- Collaborate closely with Regional Core Payments product, country management, and regional & global Pricing & Interchange teams.
- Participate in cross-functional teams and work closely with various internal and external stakeholders, e.g. country & account management, Finance, O&T, Legal.
- Represent Core Payments in global economics projects.
All About You
- Extensive experience in Mastercard economics, covering both pricing and interchange, is required.
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
- Experience in finance and/or economics, with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficient in Excel and masters data analysis and modeling.
- Experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, or similar is a major asset.
- Detail-oriented and skilled in problem-solving, able to work independently in fast-paced environments while conducting complex analyses and translating data-driven insights into clear, actionable business strategies for diverse stakeholders.
- Able to develop a strategic perspective on Mastercard’s products and services, with a strong emphasis on digital security solutions – including tokenization, authentication – and their economic impact.
- Possesses strong business acumen to initiate and drive impactful outcomes, while bringing an innovative, proactive approach to solving complex problems; a collaborative team player who is hands‑on and maintains a positive, humoristic, and approachable attitude.
- Has excellent English communication skills (verbally and written).
- Customer-oriented with a strong sense of accountability and urgency, combined with a high level of drive and curiosity to continuously learn and grow.
Experience
- Mastercard economics subject matter experience is required.
- Proven leadership and project management skills, with a strong track record of managing multiple projects involving internal and external partners, while leading and coordinating multi‑functional teams as a subject matter expert to successfully execute and deliver results against established objectives.
- Ability to evaluate business needs and define actionable strategies that seamlessly integrate technical and business components, coordinating cross‑functional collaboration to deliver measurable results for Mastercard Worldwide.
- Written and oral fluency in English required, Spanish a plus.
