Overview

Senior Accountant within Mastercard’s Australia New Zealand Controllership Group supports statutory reporting, risk and compliance, and audit coordination across the region. You’ll work with Controllers, local and global finance teams to prepare financial statements and ensure IFRS, US GAAP, and statutory requirements are met. The role involves coordinating audits, tax activities, and process improvements to strengthen controls. You will partner with stakeholders to interpret contracts and accounting guidance, driving accurate, timely reporting and governance. This position offers impact across multiple markets and a chance to shape financial processes in a multinational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements and statutory adjustments for Australian and overseas entities
  • Coordinate interim and year-end audits, manage auditor requests and approve financial statements
  • Develop balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and analytic reviews
  • Interpret AASB, IFRS, GAAP and monitor changes impacting the business
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to stakeholders on statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Support corporate income tax compliance and coordinate with tax advisers
  • Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley risk assessments and compliance
  • Identify and implement process improvement and automation initiatives to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP and local statutory reporting in a multinational environment
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Experience with AI/digital tools to improve productivity and reporting processes
  • Advanced Excel skills (Macros and data analysis)
  • Experience with Oracle and other enterprise reporting systems
  • Strong project management and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
