As Mastercard accelerates growth across its Core business, this SVP within Foundry role will lead the strategy, development, and incubation of high-impact, next-generation products—including enabling the business’s most strategic Big Bets. This leader will define and drive a holistic product and technology roadmap for breakthrough innovations, leveraging deep expertise in product development, Core Payments subject matter and/or platform architecture to transform ideas and strategy into scalable commercial solutions. The SVP will operate at the intersection of Product, Engineering, CX, and Technology, ensuring Mastercard builds differentiated, future-ready capabilities that expand our footprint in new markets, segments, and platforms. An ability to foster and grow a high-performing team within rapidly changing contexts and priorities, and an ability to drive ‘signal from noise’ are critical to the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead key Big Bets across Core and/or Services, or key distinct role for Foundry across Core Big Bet priorities — setting vision, strategy, investment decisions, and success metrics across the accountable workstreams/role.
- Identify opportunities to build enterprise-wide infrastructure and capabilities that can scale across product lines and drive the Core X Services flywheel-wide infrastructure.
- Evolve/refine the global innovation pipeline for key focus areas within Core Payments, ensuring concepts meet business relevance thresholds and can scale globally; pause or kill products that don’t show evidence of high commercial potential or Core Payments/enterprise scale.
- Shape and communicate the strategic narrative for New Product Development, including thought leadership and executive storytelling.
- Engage customers, develop strategic partnerships and co-creation opportunities.
- Lead a global team while fostering an inclusive, high-performance, innovation-driven culture.
- Guide teams through the full Studio lifecycle—from concept sourcing to design, technical validation, prototyping, and pilot execution.
- Partner with teams to ensure products graduate successfully from pilot to production.
- Partner with relevant teams to drive go-to-market and commercialization planning for validated concepts, coordinating with regional teams, Product, and Sales.
- Drive alignment across CX&D, R&D, and Core Product Engineering to accelerate delivery and de-risk development.
- Oversee intellectual property development, including patent filings for differentiated solutions.
Required Experience & Capabilities
- Deep, hands‑on leadership experience in product development, including scaling technology platforms and launching new products globally.
- Strong technical fluency in Core Payments, payment rails, consumer products, acceptance side technologies and critical enablers (e.g., tokenization/identity).
- Experience and at least deep awareness of key technology focus areas (e.g., agentic commerce).
- Strong interest and/or fluency in AI toolset to drive productivity, rapid prototyping and time to market.
- Proven ability to translate business strategy, potential responses to ecosystem changes and/or complex technical concepts into products with significant commercial potential.
- Experience leading and working across cross‑functional global teams in a matrixed environment.
- Ability to drive synergies, align conflicting priorities, and rapidly guide teams from exploration to execution.
- Track record of incubating emerging technologies, introducing products across multiple markets, and shaping new business models.
- Strong grasp of customer‑centered design, pilot frameworks, and product lifecycle management.
- Superior communication and executive storytelling skills.
- Demonstrated agility, resilience, and comfort operating in high‑ambiguity environments.
