What is the opportunity?

This is an exciting opportunity to help our business functions manage their risks and support the achievement of business objectives within Real Time Payments International at Mastercard.

The successful candidate will become part of a high-performing team, dedicated to delivering real-time payment services across the globe that underpin over 32 billion transactions a year.

This role is part of the 1st Line of Defence, reporting to the First Line Risk Director.

The appointee will support the First Line Risk Director in embedding a risk management framework and culture to improve risk identification, management, treatment, and reporting across the organization. This is a strategically important role that requires working closely across the business to enhance decision-making, reduce operational risk, and improve service resiliency.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting risk assessment with ownership of treatment and risk reduction
  • Conducting training and awareness campaigns to embed risk management culture
  • Maintaining and reporting risk registers to support discussion, escalation, and decision-making
  • Leading risk deep dive activities to proactively manage risks
  • Ensuring governance arrangements are followed and approved by C-Suite when necessary

What are the key responsibilities of the role?

  • Promoting a strong risk culture where managing risk is integral to work
  • Evaluating organizational risk exposures, including identification, assessment, and monitoring of risks
  • Collaborating with Controls Assurance & Validation to ensure effective risk controls
  • Providing risk briefings to senior colleagues and escalating issues appropriately
  • Supporting cross-functional initiatives aligned with risk policies and processes
  • Performing Risk and Control Self-Assessments
  • Partnering with Lines of Business to identify, escalate, and resolve issues
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to RTP

What knowledge and skills are we looking for?

  • Knowledge of key risk management principles and relevant experience
  • Understanding of the three lines of defence operating model
  • Ability to develop trusted relationships with peers and stakeholders
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision
  • Analytical skills to interpret complex data
  • Adaptability to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player with strong relationship-building skills
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • Understanding of data analytics and technical risk management
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools like Open Pages, PowerBI, PowerApps
  • Experience in conducting RCSA
