Vice President, Security Architecture & Engineering Overview This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the function overseeing Security for Vocalink Limited, a company that enables the payments of 90% of salaries, 70% of utility bills, most ATM transactions and every cheque cleared in the UK. The successful candidate will become part of a high functioning team, dedicated to delivering a robust, secure and resilient service to 60+ million citizens every day with transactional volume of 11 billion/year and total annual transactional value in excess of GBP 6 Trillion.
The Technology & Engineering, Security Vice President plays a crucial role in defining technology goals and establishing a technology strategy aligned to Vocalink’s business imperatives and industry standards and best practices.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing Vocalink’s Security Architecture and Engineering function.
- Defining and implementing the security capabilities of the organisation, driving a tiered approach to balance the risk of threats proportionally; evaluating and protecting Vocalink services and assets including the people and processes.
- Ensuring that Vocalink’s technology infrastructure is aligned with its overall business goals and objectives.
- Oversee control ownership and domain specialisms of the data security, network security and endpoint domains.
- Partner with the CTO function to ensure alignment and best practice.
- Oversight and ownership of delivery of technology projects, roadmaps, configurations and tooling.
- Evaluating new technologies and ensuring technology infrastructure is scalable and secure.
- In partnership with the Business Security Officer, engaging senior management in understanding cybersecurity priorities and creating leadership buy in for cyber risk management programs.
- Preparing and enforcing a governance framework that thoroughly validates technologies used in the organization and ensures a security-first approach, where technologies and processes inherently less secure become obsolete within the organization.
- Continually identifies tools and platforms used throughout the organization and evaluates whether the underlying maintenance and patching processes are relevant and robust against today’s cyber threats.
- Drives a culture that prioritizes security as the responsibility of the whole organisation.
- Sets security standards that dictate how the organisation chooses to work with or acquire tools from third parties and restricts business units from collaborating with third parties that do not meet required security and compliance requirements.
All About You
- Track record of technology strategy development in a complex organization.
- Expertise across a variety of security domains and products such as data security, network security, endpoint, Identity Management and Vulnerability Management.
- The commercial acumen to provide cost-effective security solutions.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Previous exposure to Linux and/or Windows Operating Systems, coding languages, and/or Networks.
- Relevant experience of working in a complex (preferably multi-national) stakeholder environment that includes complex customers and regulators.
- Ability to articulate themselves clearly and concisely to a broad range of senior and junior stakeholders, acting as a bridge as well as guide for the implementation of new capabilities.
- Strong influencing skills; organizationally savvy.
- Experience working with regulators and executing in a regulatory driven and managed environment.
- Experience of presenting and communicating at board level.
- Effective communication skills – both written and oral - to deal with large diverse customer base (internal and external).
