Overview
As Director of Security Engineering, you will lead a team securing Mastercard’s Crypto Products and Blockchain Networks, Prepaid Services, Cardholder Services, and Payment Optimization initiatives. You’ll partner with engineering, product, and business leaders to embed security-by-design and ensure regulatory compliance. Your guidance shapes architecture and security standards for scalable digital payment solutions. This is a chance to influence crypto-enabled platforms at a global payments leader. You’ll drive risk-aware decisions while fostering cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a security engineering team, supporting career development and quality outcomes
- Mature engineering capabilities, streamline procedures, and enable scalability
- Advise engineering and business leaders across Cryptocurrency Blockchain Products and Digital Solutions programs
- Recommend secure design solutions to meet security and regulatory requirements
- Conduct comprehensive security reviews of new and existing tech against internal and industry standards
- Assist program teams in managing security risk to acceptable levels with reporting and analysis
- Shape security requirements and architectural patterns for large-scale crypto products in line with external guidance
- Build and sustain relationships with stakeholders across business units, engineers, project managers and executives
Key requirements
- Experience leading technical security teams for critical software products
- Strong leadership with ability to mentor and develop team members
- Ability to negotiate with stakeholders to balance risk with business opportunities while maintaining compliance
- Excellent communication skills to translate security concepts for business audiences
- Broad security engineering background with technology, business, and risk awareness
- Deep understanding of cryptography and blockchain security principles
- Knowledge of web security, secure software design, and data protection
- Experience with risk-based security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI DSS, DORA, CRI)
