In this role you lead the First Line Controls capability for Real-Time Payments International, strengthening governance, testing and remediation within the ORC framework. You’ll partner with Product, Engineering and Operations to embed controls by design and advance data-driven, automated assurance. You’ll drive continuous improvement, reporting and stakeholder engagement across senior teams while building a high-performing Controls function. This is an opportunity to shape risk management in a critical payments platform.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve the Controls capability in alignment with the ORC framework
  • Oversee end-to-end control lifecycle: design, ownership, operation, testing, monitoring, reporting and remediation
  • Drive a risk-based control testing program with clear insights into weaknesses and themes
  • Embed controls by design with Product, Engineering and Architecture from inception
  • Promote automation, data telemetry and AI to enable continuous, forward-looking control testing
  • Ensure clear articulation, tracking and sustainable remediation of control deficiencies
  • Build strong partnerships across Product, Engineering, Operations, Risk and Assurance
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Controls team and foster continuous improvement culture

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in controls, risk management and the three lines of defence in technology, payments or financial services
  • Deep knowledge of end-to-end control lifecycle, governance and management reporting
  • Experience building and improving control capabilities in complex organisations
  • Proven ability to partner with Product, Engineering and Architecture to embed Control by Design
  • Experience using data, technology and automation to enhance control testing and monitoring
  • Strong understanding of technology and modern engineering environments and related control considerations
  • Demonstrated leadership, stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills across senior stakeholders
  • Strong analytical judgement translating risks, controls and issues into actionable insight
