Overview

As Director, Account Management in UK & Ireland, you will drive B2B acceptance growth by enabling more suppliers to accept commercial card payments and helping acquirers scale their B2B businesses. You will collaborate with regional and global teams to turn Mastercard’s capabilities into measurable volumes, while aligning with broader finance and liquidity solutions. This role combines partnerships, strategic market execution, and supplier activation to deliver impact for customers and the ecosystem. You’ll be a trusted SME representing Mastercard on B2B acceptance and commercial payments.

Responsibilities

  • Accelerate adoption of Mastercard's B2B acceptance capabilities (MRM, CDP, and future solutions).
  • Identify new payment flows, market opportunities and industry segments for acceptance growth.
  • Support acquirers in developing, launching and scaling B2B acceptance propositions.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of B2B acceptance opportunities and convert strategy into volume growth.
  • Develop repeatable growth models scalable across partners and industries.
  • Lead supplier engagement and activation with strategic suppliers, finance leaders, and key decision-makers in UK&I.
  • Collaborate with acquirers to engage suppliers with high acceptance and volume potential.
  • Understand supplier economics, payment behaviours and working capital priorities to shape value propositions.
  • Position commercial card acceptance within broader finance and liquidity strategies (invoice finance, supply chain finance, working capital tools).
  • Develop relationships with acquirers, issuers, fintechs, ERP providers, platforms and partners to unlock growth.
  • Work with regional/global teams to bring proven capabilities into UK&I.
  • Create industry-specific sales plays, value propositions and growth strategies.
  • Support commercialization and market education, partner enablement, and go-to-market activities.
  • Represent Mastercard as a subject matter expert on B2B acceptance and commercial payments.
  • Collaborate across Product, Sales, Services, Marketing and Customer Delivery to accelerate execution and growth.

Key requirements

  • 8+ years' experience in payments, acquiring, commercial cards, banking, fintech, or related fields.
  • Experience with acquirers, issuers, payment providers, banks and large corporates.
  • Proven track record in commercial growth, partnerships and managing complex stakeholder environments.
  • Direct experience engaging suppliers and supporting supplier acquisition/activation/growth.
  • Experience in finance, treasury, receivables, working capital, procurement or invoice-driven environments (desirable).
  • Strong commercial and consultative selling skills
  • Stakeholder management and relationship building with senior leaders
  • Excellent communication, influencing and presentation abilities
  • Understanding of commercial payments, merchant acceptance and acquiring ecosystems
  • Knowledge of supplier economics and working capital management
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms and invoice-driven payment environments
