Overview: We are looking for an experienced lawyer to join our legal team, providing support and advice to the Real Time Payments business, primarily focusing on Vocalink Limited, with possible additional support across the RTP division as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Handle the full range of legal issues for a supervised entity within a global group.
- Commercial: Put in place and manage the full lifecycle of commercial relationships/contracts with customers, suppliers and partners.
- General: Identify and manage a wide range of legal issues including privacy, regulatory, employment, litigation, property and corporate matters in collaboration with legal and business teams.
- Represent legal interests on a day‑to‑day basis and as primary and deputy at governance forums such as Exco, Board, risk, audit committees.
- Collaborate with internal legal SMEs across regulatory, privacy, intellectual property etc. as necessary.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders across commercial, account management, finance, strategy, operations, risk, compliance, Treasury and product teams.
- External Counsel Coordination: Instruct and manage external legal advisors within agreed policy and budget.
Qualifications:
- Qualified lawyer with a strong academic background and experience.
- Ability to identify key legal issues, contextualise them for the business, and articulate solutions.
- Rapid understanding and knowledge of complex products, services and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with regulatory, competition law, data privacy and intellectual property issues and ability to resolve them.
- Ability to apply experience to new situations and areas of law.
- Strong drafting, writing, oral communication and negotiating skills.
- Experience in relationship building, stakeholder management and partnering.
- Can‑do attitude, self‑motivated and capable of delivering against objectives.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Prior experience with commercial contracting, technology and/or payments sector is critical.
- Prior experience working in a regulated environment is a strong asset.
- Experience as an in‑house lawyer in a multinational company is desirable but not essential.
