Tom Drexler Plumbing, Air & Electric is looking for a top-quality person to join our Plumbing Service Team as a Plumbing Helper / Apprentice in our Sewer Installation Team. This position will be learning a wide variety of valuable skills from a Journeyman Plumber and will gain hands-on experience in many facets of plumbing focused on residential service.
This position works hours between 7:00am β 8:00pm Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. You will be provided uniforms.
Compensation: $17 - $20 per hour, Full Time
This position will assist the licensed plumber onsite during the preparation, execution, and cleanup of sewer replacements. We are interested in motivated, skilled sewer helpers who enjoy working in a team environment and are committed to providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Join our crews specializing in water maintenance, water distribution, sewer construction, and sewer maintenance. Crew members work in all types of weather conditions, performing tasks related to the maintenance, replacement, repair, inspection, and new installation of various water, sewer, and street infrastructures.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide your customers with a call to let them know your estimated time of arrival.
- Relay accurate information to customers.
- Be professional and establish customer rapport, encouraging repeat business.
- Respond to customer requests, resolve issues, and promote the brand.
- Install pipes and plumbing fixtures.
- Visually inspect equipment and operate test equipment such as pressure and vacuum gauges to determine the cause and location of trouble.
- Clear obstructions from sink drains and toilets.
- Troubleshoot problems and decide how to fix them.
- Repair pipes and plumbing fixtures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants will ideally possess a minimum of 1 year of Sewer/Excavation work or residential service plumbing work experience.
- Working knowledge of the care and use of standard hand tools used in the construction and maintenance of water and sewer installations.
- Assist the plumber and excavation operator onsite and excavation.
- Cut and assemble pipe fittings.
- Assist in backfill and clean up after sewer is reassembled.
- Adhere to all safety policies and protocol.
- Applicant must have previous plumbing experience and be able to work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to follow directions well, and demonstrate a sound work ethic.
- Honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness in dealing with customers; some cash handling.
- Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions for prolonged periods of time and work while in kneeling, sitting, or prone positions depending upon assignment.
- Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions, work with others, and deal with customers in a courteous manner.
Qualifications:
- Availability to work Monday through Friday with a rotating Saturday as needed.
- Must be comfortable with physical labor.
- Must be comfortable getting your hands dirty.
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs regularly.
- Customer service oriented.
- Energetic, positive, and self-motivated.
- Must possess a valid driverβs license and be able to drive personal vehicle to various job sites around Cincinnati.
- Detail-oriented, eager to learn, take pride in your work and have a passion for producing high-quality results.
- OWN VEHICLE REQUIRED: Must be able to get to and from different job sites around Louisville, KY.
