We're re-imagining online drinks retail from the ground up, using cutting-edge technology and fanatical customer service to create unexpected delight as we help people explore, buy and enjoy high-end whisky and other premium spirits. Innovation is at the heart of everything we do β we challenge convention and push boundaries to build the future of drinks retail.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Field Sales, you'll be responsible for developing and managing an account base of customers across Scotland, spanning both the Independent On-Trade (IFT) and Independent Specialist channels. You will leverage our rapidly expanding Master of Malt (MoM) Trade wholesaler platform to broaden its footprint, increase distribution, and drive value and contribution across these key channels. Acting as a true partner and consultant to the trade, you'll focus on bringing customers on the wholesale spirits journey with us β building strong relationships, unlocking growth, and championing our own core Maverick brands alongside our third-party partners.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build and manage a diverse customer base across Scotland, maintaining select existing accounts while generating strong new business momentum in both the On Trade and Independent Specialist channels.
- Identify commercial growth opportunities, focusing on net revenue and margin contributions to create investment plans that deliver sustainable, incremental growth.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including Brand & Customer Marketing, Route-to-Market (RTM) and MoM Trade teams, to deliver impactful support plans and long-term ROI.
- Use your expertise in spirits, wholesale, and trade insights to guide customer decision-making β increasing MoM Trade basket spend and enhancing visibility and presence of Maverick brands.
- Drive distribution, visibility and rate of sale of brands through the Master of Malt Trade platform.
- Support brand activations and trade marketing with both owned and partner brands β particularly within prestige hospitality environments (e.g. 5-star hotels, premium cocktail bars, top-tier restaurants).
Proven Account Management experience within the drinks industry. Experience in new business development within On-Trade and/or Wholesale. Strong knowledge of the Scottish market and key spirits players. Deep understanding of the UK spirits industry β brands, venues, trends, innovation. Broad product knowledge across spirits categories β craft spirit knowledge desirable. Commercial acumen with experience in investment planning, cost vs spend and contribution analysis. Strong negotiation, communication, and numeracy skills. WSET Higher Level qualification desirable (or equivalent). Cocktail list curation and trade marketing experience highly beneficial.
We're all about boundless curiosity, so you'll discover loads of opportunities to spark your creative flair and work alongside unreal talent who all have the same job description, to 'Make Atom Successful.' Trust is at the epicentre of all that we can do, so you'll work in a transparent and honest environment where we have each other's backs, and be free of aging corporate policies and rules.
Life hereβs about so much more than pay and benefits - you might get a slightly higher salary if you cram onto an expensive, crowded commuter train into the city, but you'll struggle to find a company with the flex, agility and uniqueness that we have. In short, we've got you covered financially but if money is your main driver, we're not for you.
We hate waste in all of its forms and time is no different, so we're focused on productivity and output rather than when or where you work, or what you wear into the office β you can come in fancy dress for all we care! This means that although we can't promise anything, flexible working options are built into our DNA.
Along with the stuff you get for turning up to work each day (think private healthcare scheme, death in service cover, generous leave allowance, pension, cycle-2-work and tech schemes, eye care, free fruit, and free parking at the office), you'll also get a healthy staff discount on our world-class range (just in case that makes a difference). We don't sit still, and there's a lot more to come... Apply now if you want to join us.
