Masterclass Education is proud to be working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary academy in Portsmouth that provides outstanding education and support for pupils aged 11–16 with Additional Learning Difficulties (ALD) and Autism. The Role

  • Supporting students with learning difficulties and autism across a variety of subjects and year groups (Years 7–11)
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to help pupils develop communication, social, and learning skills
  • Implementing strategies to support students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), including the use of visual aids, structured routines, and positive behaviour approaches
  • Helping pupils manage transitions and regulate emotions throughout the school day
  • Encouraging independence, resilience, and confidence in all aspects of learning and personal development
  • Supporting teachers in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional or special educational needs (school or care settings welcome)
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting learners with diverse needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive attitude with a genuine passion for helping young people succeed

Essential Requirements

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals
  • A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • A positive, resilient, and caring attitude towards supporting pupils with additional needs
