Masterclass Education is currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants to support specialist schools and alternative provisions across Bristol. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. About the Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. Working alongside teachers and pastoral teams, you will help create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment where students can thrive.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behavioural challenges.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Encouraging engagement with learning and classroom activities.
  • Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management.
  • Supporting students during breaktimes, transitions, and intervention sessions.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and wellbeing throughout the school day.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional needs.
  • Are patient, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Previous experience within schools is beneficial but not essential. Candidates from backgrounds such as youth work, care work, sports coaching, mentoring, and support services are encouraged to apply.
