Masterclass Education is seeking a resilient and dedicated Secondary Teacher on behalf of an alternative provision in Bristol that specialises in supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an opportunity to join a school that takes a relationship-first approach to education, helping students who may have experienced significant challenges in mainstream settings to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

About the Setting

Our partner school provides education for secondary-aged students who require additional behavioural, emotional, and pastoral support. The school prides itself on creating a safe and consistent environment where students feel valued, respected, and understood. With small class sizes, strong pastoral support, and a focus on restorative practice, the school enables pupils to develop confidence, resilience, and the skills needed to succeed both in education and beyond.

The Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of complex needs and barriers to learning. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging and accessible lessons across your subject specialism.
  • Building strong, professional relationships with students to encourage engagement and trust.
  • Supporting pupils to manage their emotions and behaviours positively.
  • Creating personalised learning experiences that meet individual needs and targets.
  • Working alongside pastoral teams, support staff, and external agencies to provide holistic support.
  • Celebrating progress and helping students develop self-confidence and independence.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Has experience working with secondary-aged pupils.
  • Understands the challenges faced by young people with SEMH needs.
  • Can remain calm, adaptable, and solution-focused in a dynamic environment.
  • Is committed to inclusion and believes every student deserves the opportunity to succeed.
  • Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Values teamwork and collaborative working.

What the School Can Offer

  • Small teaching groups and a highly supportive staffing structure.
  • A leadership team that prioritises staff wellbeing and development.
  • Ongoing CPD opportunities focused on SEMH, trauma-informed practice, and behaviour support.
  • The chance to make a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable young people.
  • A welcoming and passionate team committed to improving outcomes for every learner.
  • Access to specialist resources and intervention programmes.
