Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Migration Specialist with a strong background in executing large-scale data migration projects in the banking and financial industry. The ideal candidate must have expertise in working with Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products and Data Modernization/Transformation programs. The Migration Specialist will be responsible for leading and executing the data migration phase of a project, ensuring seamless data migration and transformation between legacy and new systems.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Databricks Expertise: Proficiency in using Databricks tools and services, including Spark SQL, Delta Lake, Databricks Workflows, and Databricks Runtime.
  • ETL Development: Strong experience in designing, developing, and implementing ETL pipelines.
  • Data Warehousing Concepts: Solid understanding of data warehousing principles, including dimensional modelling, star schemas, and snowflake schemas.
  • Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, as Databricks operates within these environments.
  • Data Migration Tools: Familiarity with data migration tools and techniques, such as scripting, data replication, and change data capture (CDC).
  • SQL and Programming: Proficiency in SQL and programming languages like Python or Scala.
  • Data Governance and Security: Knowledge of data governance and security best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Migration Execution:

  • Document data migration processes, including data mappings and transformation rules.
  • Execute data migrations from legacy systems to new platforms.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency during the migration process.

End-User Training:

  • Train end-users on new systems and data access protocols post-migration.
  • Provide guidance on accessing and utilizing migrated data effectively.

Archival and Compliance:

  • Manage the archival and disposal of obsolete data in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure proper handling of sensitive data during migration.

Technical Support:

  • Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot migration-related issues.
  • Track the lifecycle of data sets before submission and provide live analytics.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to improve data migration processes and reduce customer effort.
  • Document and share best practices for data migration within the organization.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent documentation skills and follow-through.
  • Databrick and Azure certifications
  • Highly self-directed, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing the rollout of new code or server data to live products.

  • Assess existing data systems and identify data sources for migration.
  • Design and implement data migration strategies and plans.
  • Develop and execute ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data into Databricks.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity during the migration process.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data migration issues.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful data migration outcomes.
