Job summary
Masstemps are recruiting for a Woodshop Department Supervisor for a permanent role in Dudley. The position combines hands-on workshop involvement with team leadership to maintain daily production, quality standards and safety.
Prior supervisory experience in woodworking is valued, with a focus on organisation, training and problem-solving on the shop floor. You will oversee workload allocation, support continuous improvement, and ensure production runs smoothly while
Qualifications
- Strong previous woodworking experience in a workshop/manufacturing environment.
- Good practical knowledge of woodworking processes, tools and equipment.
- Ability to train and guide other team members; lead by example.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day running of the woodshop department.
- Help the team meet daily and weekly production targets.
- Organise work areas, materials and workloads to keep production flowing.
- Allocate team members across different work areas as needed.
- Prioritise work to align with production schedules and customer requirements.
- Support and train new starters within the department.
- Ensure finished work meets quality standards.
- Promote safe working practices and keep tidy workshop areas.
- Ensure machinery and equipment are used and maintained properly.
- Raise equipment or maintenance concerns when needed.
- Identify practical solutions to production or workflow issues.
- Support continuous improvement in quality, efficiency and organisation.
- Carry out weekly stock checks and communicate material needs.
- Support performance reviews and identify training needs.
