Masstemps are currently recruiting for experienced CNC team leaders for our busy automotive client based in Kidderminster.

Role Summary

To provide first line supervision by effectively managing the departmental workload and staff resource to provide an efficient and smooth service. To ensure daily targets are met and quality targets are reached and maintained. To support and assist the Shift Manager in the daily running of the shift and to deputise for the Shift Manager in their absence.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate production staff and team resource daily
  • Set and communicate production requirements ensuring work is available and resource is managed effectively
  • Facilitate and coordinate quality requirements, ensuring customer standards are met
  • Train colleagues when required, to agreed company standards in working practices and processes, liaising with Production Manager to facilitate training and development requirements within the team
  • Support team members in identification of improvement activities and problem solving
  • Manage holiday requests and other absences to ensure adequate levels of resource are always achieved
  • Ensure all data collection is correct and submitted on time
  • Facilitate Health & Safety and Environmental procedures, ensuring staff adhere to relevant safety and environmental requirements
  • Ensure high standards of housekeeping and promote a culture of 5s in the workplace
  • Support team building and promote good working relations through example and good practice
  • Ensure all quality procedures are implemented and adhered to
  • Ensure that all workers adhere to company policies
  • Running Machines
  • Seting tooling into machines & train others in these duties
  • Valie ation and quality inspections
  • Scrap and cycle time reduction
  • Assist supervisor with people management issues
  • Within the machine shop team, work together to maximise efficiency and machine utilisation to continually improve performance, quality, reduce downtime and waste elimination
  • Plan, organise and direct activities within the cells, work zones/ areas
  • Co-ordinate team support activities - materials, purchasing, maintenance and housekeeping
  • Team attendance, output, labour utilisation reporting
  • Work in conjunction with production management to agree and satisfy productionpriorities; achievement of team targets
  • Low level machine setting/consumable tool replacement/machine maintenance/TPM activities
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action planning; resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
  • To assume supervisory responsibility in the absence of the Shift Manager
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department, or team working activities within the team
  • Contribute to the planned continuing development, training and skills development of other team members
  • Maintenance of hourly output sheets, Zone/ area display boards, etc for the team
  • Undertake daily start of shift briefings, H&S activities, monitoring of consumable usages and potential cost losses for the business

Role

To assist in the supervision of the machine shop production operators. Shall be in-house trained to achieve all 3 levels of the Health and Safety Representatives duties, roles and responsibilities.

Key Competencies

  • At least 5 years previous experience essential as a qualified Machine operator/ Line technician
  • Previous experience as supervisor or section leader preferred
  • Background in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Good timekeeping and attendance are vital

Pay rate

£16-£18ph

Shifts include

  • Rotational 6am-2pm & 2pm -10pm Monday - Friday
  • Nights 10pm - 6am Sunday - Thursday
