Masstemps are currently recruiting for a full time, permanent calibration and repair technician to join our busy and expanding engineering company based in Smethwick.
The role:
To ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production, calibration and repair operations. The role combines hands-on manufacturing, metrology, testing and fault diagnosis, supporting delivery, quality, and continuous improvement.
What You Will Do
- Assemble, build, and test products to specification
- Perform calibration across required disciplines and produce certificates
- Maintain calibration records and test equipment certification
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs
- Solder and assemble components
- Prepare, pack, and dispatch equipment and customer units
- Check-in, log, and track customer equipment accurately
- Use systems such as Power App to manage calibration data
- Review third-party certificates for accuracy
- Maintain Kanban, materials flow, and production schedules
- Ensure OTIF (On Time In Full No Errors) delivery
- Maintain 5S, housekeeping, and organised work areas
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective actions
- Ensure full compliance with quality procedures and standards
- Identify and report non-conformance issues
- Support new product introduction and tooling improvements
- Promote and follow Health & Safety practices including audits
- Train and support new team members
What We Are Looking For
- GCSEs or equivalent
- Mechanical/Electrical qualification (desirable)
- Experience in calibration, metrology, or production
- Strong technical and hands-on skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Problem-solving and root cause analysis capability
- Ability to work independently and within a team
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions (if applicable)
- 5 GCSE qualifications at grades A-C, or equivalent
- Desirable BTEC (Lv3) qualification in the Mechanical / Electrical field, or equivalent
- 1-2 years prior experience in a similar role and within a Service-driven and highly Customer-focused environment.
Hours of work:
Mon - Thurs 6am-4pm
Rate of pay:
£31k-£33k per annum
