As a result of considerable expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee maintenance engineer/fitter to join Sparlonz Limited, a successful plastic sheet extrusion and vacuum forming business based in Redditch, Worcestershire.

Role: To assist the Maintenance Engineer with the following:

  • Inspection, repair and upkeep of various equipment and machinery
  • Deal with any electrical or mechanical breakdowns of production machinery
  • Maintain all site services and liaise with sub-contract engineers when required
  • Implement and adhere to a preventative maintenance schedule for all key production machines
  • Play a key role in continuous improvement to help reduce down-time
  • Ensuring the organisation complies with safety regulations while maintenance takes place
  • Keeping a record of preventive and emergency maintenance carried out

A knowledge of electro-pneumatic and hydraulic control systems and previous experience of plastics thermoforming machines/extrusion machines is advantageous, but not essential as full training will be provided.

The position is based around a standard 40-hour week working Monday to Friday 0800 to 1630. Overtime is generally available and flexibility is required to deal with breakdown situations as the plant runs 24 hours.
