Working Conditions and Shift Times:

- Shift patterns include day shifts starting between 5am and 9am, night shifts starting between 4pm and 7pm, and weekend shifts which are available but not compulsory.
- Work primarily takes place on the road with occasional loading and unloading duties at distribution centres.

Job Description:
As an HGV Class 1 driver, you are responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various routes within the West Midlands and surrounding areas. Your role involves operating articulated vehicles in compliance with all road safety and transport regulations. You ensure that loads are securely fastened and that all deliveries and collections are carried out punctually and professionally.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive Class 1 HGV vehicles to transport goods safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload vehicles, ensuring all items are secured correctly for transit.
- Reverse vehicles onto bays with precision and care to facilitate safe loading and unloading.
- Complete necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and vehicle checks.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to identify any vehicle defects or maintenance needs.
- Comply with all relevant transport legislation, including hours of service and health and safety regulations.
- Maintain effective communication with the logistics team regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered during transit.
- Adhere to designated shift patterns, which may include early morning, late afternoon, and weekend shifts as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Hold a valid HGV Class 1 licence held for a minimum of two years.
- Possess a current Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card.
- Hold a valid digital tachograph (Digi) card.
Education:
Minimum of GCSEs or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
Experience:
- Proven experience driving Class 1 HGV vehicles within haulage or logistics environments.
- Demonstrated ability to reverse vehicles safely onto bays.
- Experience in securing loads appropriately to prevent damage or loss during transit.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of road safety rules and transport regulations.
- Ability to plan routes efficiently and manage time effectively to meet delivery deadlines.
- Good communication skills for liaising with dispatchers and site personnel.
- Attention to detail for accurate record keeping and vehicle checks.
- Physical fitness to manage loading tasks, where required.
Preferred Qualifications:
