My client is looking for experienced Motor Underwriters to add to their growing team providing support to the Underwriting Director.

Key duties:

  • Responding to email referrals & manage internal and external queries. This includes referral to Insurers where required.
  • Maintain the correct administration & filing for the Insurer & product files.
  • Responsible for in house referrals from the sales team.
  • Assist in the generation of scheme performance data using company systems.
  • Keep up to date with the company’s products and relevant external events that could affect underwriting decisions.
  • Make confident decisions in line with business rules and processes.
  • Be the first point of contact for the sales floor for underwriting queries.
  • Able to present risks to bespoke underwriters and agree terms.
  • Understand underwriting performance and have experience of monitoring insurer loss ratios.

Key requirements:

  • Understand how to implement processes and procedures. Can confidently manage priorities effectively.
  • Able to produce consistently high-quality information within tight deadlines.
  • Capable of managing relationships internal and external at all levels within the business.
  • Have a desire to learn new skills and challenge the status quo to develop personally and achieve business objectives.
  • Have good PR/interpersonal skills, outstanding communication and reporting skills, problem analysis and listening ability.
  • Must have an understanding of bespoke/niche Motor Insurance.
  • Must be able to understand underwriting performance and have experience of monitoring insurer loss ratios.
  • Manage external relationships with insurers.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years experience of personal lines Motor insurance, with an understanding of Motor insurance risk factors and be able to demonstrate this to a high level.
  • Must have experience of Motor insurance schemes.

The role covers a shift pattern as below:

  • 8:30 - 17:30 Monday - Friday (Early Shift)
  • 09:00 - 18:00 (Middle Shift)
  • 10:00 - 19:00 Monday to Friday (Late Shift)
  • 09:00 - 15:00 Saturday (one week in three)
