This position assists the Port Engineers with the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities of the Authority’s fleet. It involves planning, organizing, scheduling, and utilizing the fleet efficiently. The role requires monitoring preventative and corrective maintenance activities using the Preventative Maintenance System. Collaboration with the Port Engineers, Project Engineer, Vessel Maintenance Manager, and Maintenance Supervisor is essential for repair planning and schedule compliance. The position also coordinates manpower planning with the Vessel Maintenance Manager for vessel operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Engine Department Utilization and Performance: Assists with the effective use of vessel engineering plants, supports routine USCG and regulatory inspections, and helps address deficiencies and citations.
  2. Fleet Maintenance Monitoring, Scheduling, Planning, and Inventory Control: Uses TAG to develop standards for operations, monitoring, scheduling, planning, and inventory to enhance maintenance and performance.
  3. Human Resource Budget Planning and Control: Develops and monitors maintenance databases, manages vessel engine department staffing, operations, and maintenance within regulatory, contractual, and budget constraints.
  4. Training and Safety: Supports the implementation of training programs, monitors training needs, and conducts safety audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  5. Duty Schedule: Must be available for emergency calls after hours, participate in weekend duty rotations, and perform Port Engineer duties in their absence.

Required Knowledge:

– Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent

– Proficiency in computer systems and CMMS programs

– Experience with marine propulsion and auxiliary systems

– U.S.C.G. limited First Engineer’s license
