Airtight Energy Consulting, Inc. is a small but growing company that provides HERS ratings, Passive House consulting and verification, and green building assistance to developers, architects, contractors and others involved in the design and construction of multifamily buildings, single family homes, and commercial buildings.
This position will focus on HERS ratings and Enterprise Green Communities certification for small multifamily projects. Candidates must be certified HERS Raters but do not need any prior experience with Enterprise Green Communities. This position has tremendous growth potential; the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of high performance, sustainable multifamily projects across the region and to become an expert on green building over the coming years through experience working on projects, support from knowledgeable co-workers, and participation in conferences and trainings.
Job Duties/ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:
Reviewing architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and lighting plans and specifications for compliance with ENERGY STAR, energy code, and green building program requirements
Performing take-offs of envelope, mechanical, plumbing, and lighting systems
Performing HERS ratings of single family and multifamily buildings, including renovation projects
Providing project management and consulting for projects from start to finish
Certifying projects under ENERGY STAR Homes, ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction, and Enterprise Green Communities
Performing on-site inspections for single family homes and multifamily buildings
Performing blower door, duct leakage, and ventilation testing using diagnostic equipment
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in science, engineering, architecture, building technology, or similar
Minimum of 1 year experience as a HERS rater
Interest in energy efficiency, green building, and reducing global climate change
Located within 60 miles of Northampton, Massachusetts and willing to work in our office 1-3 days per week
Have completed ENERGY STAR rater training or ability to complete within the first few months
Use of a personal vehicle for work and a good driving record
