Airtight Energy Consulting, Inc. is a small but growing company that provides HERS ratings, Passive House consulting and verification, and energy code assistance to developers, architects, contractors and others involved in the design and construction of multifamily buildings, single family homes, and commercial buildings.

This entry-level position will focus on HERS ratings for single family homes and providing support to other staff performing Passive House consulting and verification for multifamily and commercial buildings. This position has tremendous growth potential; successful candidate could become a Certified Passive House Consultant or Passive House Verifier over the next few years.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and lighting plans and specifications
  • Performing take-offs of envelope, mechanical, plumbing, and lighting systems
  • Creating 3D Sketchup models of single family, multifamily, and commercial buildings
  • Assisting with whole building energy modeling and thermal bridge modeling
  • Performing HERS ratings of single family homes
  • Providing project management and building science advice for single family home projects
  • Performing on-site inspections for single family homes
  • Performing blower door, duct leakage, and ventilation testing using diagnostic equipment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in science, engineering, architecture, building technology, or similar
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience, preferably in design, construction, energy efficiency, engineering, or project management
  • Experience using Sketchup to create 3D models
  • Interest in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and minimising global climate change
  • Located within 50 miles of Northampton, Massachusetts and willing to work in our office 1-3 days per week
  • Ability to take the next scheduled NEHERS Alliance Rater Training
  • Use of a personal vehicle for work and a good driving record
