The Town of Yarmouth, MA, is seeking a year-round part-time library assistant for Youth Services at South Yarmouth and West Yarmouth Libraries. Candidate must be reliable, flexible, have computer knowledge and excellent customer service skills.
Assist at the front desk, including checking materials in and out. Answer phones; assist with requesting materials for library users, maintains positive communication with the public, and other library tasks; ready reference and readers’ advisory; ability to lift up to 20 lbs, stand for lengthy periods of time.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred and one or more years of relevant experience within a public library system, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. High comfort level with computers and a variety of reference resources, as well as a reputation for superior customer service. Experience working with young people a plus. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with people of all ages, including volunteers, community partners, colleagues and supervisors. Accuracy; attention to detail. Must enjoy learning and have a helpful, friendly disposition.
