The Bedford Free Public Library is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Part‑Time Children’s Librarian to support youth services and help foster a love of reading and learning in our community. This position works closely with children from birth through elementary school and their caregivers, providing welcoming and engaging library experiences.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and leading story times and programs
- Assisting families in finding books and resources
- Supporting early literacy initiatives
- Maintaining parts of the children’s collection
- Helping curate displays
- Participating in outreach to local schools and community organizations
Qualifications: Candidates should be exceptionally organized, energetic, and able to work independently while effectively managing their time. Strong interpersonal skills and dedication to public service are a must. MLIS degree or MLIS candidate and public library experience required; familiarity with Sierra ILS helpful.
Schedule: 10 hours per week on average; Monday and Tuesday mornings, alternating Saturdays (four‑hour shift). Optional Sundays at time‑and‑a‑half.
Salary: $38.85/hour. Grade 5, part‑time, non‑union, and not eligible for benefits.
