The Town of Southbridge Jacob Edwards Library introduces a great opportunity for a part-time Library Aide position. The Library aide position provides customer service and supports basic circulation services in the Children’s Department. Performs all other related work as required. The position available is part-time, 10 hours weekly.

Qualifications Recommended Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent; customer service experience and Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge, Ability and Skill:
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of modern library procedures. Knowledge of catalog and shelving practices and the Dewey Decimal system, preferred.
  • Ability: Ability to interact in a positive and effective manner with employees and public and to work independently. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to speak clearly. Ability to alphabetize and maintain shelf order. Ability to make change on cash transactions. Ability to work effectively both independently and with others as required. Ability to execute oral and written instructions in a precise manner. Ability to operate a variety of office and library equipment. Ability to do repetitive work. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a prompt, efficient manner.
  • Skill: Excellent oral communication and customer service skills. Proficient computer skills.
