Our Digital Services Group (DSG) is a diverse business unit that provides a full spectrum of digital capabilities and is responsible for satisfying the technological requirements of the most secure settings. They have a favourable influence on national security initiatives for the United Kingdom and its strategic partners throughout the world.
Reporting to our Senior Network & Server Engineer, you will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of the infrastructure, including both permanent and deployable nodes at MOD Southwick Park, Portsmouth. In this role, DSG works closely in collaboration with our Training Support team, ensuring systems remain available and secure to enable experimentation and wargaming activities.
You will be based primarily on-site, with occasional travel to other customer or MASS locations as required.
The invaluable experience you’ll bring:
You’ll maintain permanent and deployable infrastructure to support wargaming and experimentation activities. This includes patching, license management, configuration alignment, and providing remote testing access, working closely with on-site CIS staff to keep services running smoothly.
Required:
- Functional knowledge within Microsoft Windows Server
- To include Active Directory Administration and Group Policy Management
- Functional knowledge within Microsoft Windows
- Functional knowledge within Microsoft SharePoint Server
- Functional knowledge within Microsoft Exchange Server
- Functional knowledge within Microsoft SQL Server
- Functional knowledge within Microsoft Skype for Business Server
- Network Fundamentals: IP addressing, VLANs and Firewall Policies
Desirable:
- Experience with Backup and Replication technologies
- Experience with Network monitoring and syslog capabilities
- Experience with Automated client deployment technologies
- Experience with Layer 3 routing and networking protocols
- Functional knowledge within VMware ESXi Virtualisation: To include VM Management and HA clustering
