Our finance team of 4 is growing to support the company’s ambitious growth strategy. This is a new role and an opportunity for someone who enjoys seeing the bigger picture and the intricacies of a business like MASS supporting the Financial Controller.
How you’ll support us:
- Curious and enthusiastic about our business, comfortable providing financial guidance and challenge to non-finance stakeholders, building positive relationships and championing good financial awareness and operational practice across the business.
- Supportive and able to assist with any financial queries from how to add an order to the finance system to how Revenue Recognition works.
- Experienced in practical implementation of governance processes.
- Able to practically support the other members of our Team.
- Keen to explore new ways to deliver MI to support the growing needs of the business.
- Adaptable to support a wide range of projects with different complexities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of robust financial control, forecasting and business insight across MASS.
- Working closely with delivery functions to maintain a broad understanding of the business, its projects and their complexities, with the ability to see the bigger picture.
- Support internal stakeholders with queries relating to the finance system (currently Access Focalpoint) and associated processes.
- Support internal and external reporting requirements, including submissions such as SSRO, RDEC and ONS.
- Complete month-end activities and forecasting for Support Functions, working alongside delivery-focused financial support.
- Provide cover, as required, across project and financial accounting, accounts administration and payroll activities.
- Assist with the design and implementation of our future finance systems and improved finance processes.
Essential:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Ability to work with internal stakeholders to support forecasting, reporting and finance process requirements.
- Ability to understand the wider business context and apply financial insight to operational and strategic decision-making.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, with strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across the business.
- Self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Strong commercial awareness and a sound understanding of finance processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a practical and pragmatic approach.
- Highly competent in Excel, with the ability to analyse, interpret and present financial information clearly, using current reporting tools.
- A UK National and eligible to work in the UK.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance, with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) clearance if required.
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of Power BI and/or Copilot for Excel.
- Previous experience of implementing, or supporting the implementation of a finance system.
- Ability to visualise how new systems and processes can be designed to support MASS effectively.
- Good understanding of SSRO requirements.
- A good understanding of RDEC requirements.
- A strategic mindset, with the potential to develop further into a broader business partnering and FP&A capability.
