HGV Fleet Compliance & Quality Manager
£50,000 + Annual Profit Share Scheme + Company Vehicle

Are you an experienced HGV Technician looking to step away from the workshop and into a role focused on vehicle standards, compliance and quality? We're recruiting for an HGV Compliance & Quality Inspector to support a large commercial fleet operation across multiple sites. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong HGV maintenance background who enjoys problem-solving, inspections and ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards.
Unlike traditional technician roles, the majority of your time will be spent carrying out vehicle inspections, auditing maintenance quality and supporting fleet compliance, with only occasional hands-on repair work required.

The Role
Working across a network of operational sites, you will be responsible for ensuring HGVs and trailers are maintained safely, legally and to the highest quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inspecting HGVs and trailers following servicing, maintenance and MOT work
- Auditing the quality of repairs completed by third-party maintenance providers
- Carrying out fleet compliance inspections and vehicle condition assessments
- Identifying defects, recurring issues and opportunities for improvement
- Completing minor repairs and defect rectification where required
- Supporting vehicle roadworthiness and legal compliance
- Ensuring fleet standards align with Operator Licence requirements
- Working closely with depot teams and external maintenance providers
- Assisting with vehicle inspection processes and driver defect reporting standards
Approximately 75% of the role is focused on inspections, audits and compliance activities, with around 25% involving hands-on maintenance and repairs.
About You
To be considered, you'll need:
- Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Fleet Engineer, Workshop Controller or similar
- A recognised vehicle maintenance qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of HGV maintenance and repair standards
- Experience identifying defects and assessing vehicle roadworthiness
- Knowledge of fleet compliance and Operator Licence requirements
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
