As a Senior Engineering Geologist, you’ll play a pivotal role in every stage of the project from inception to completion, from managing clients and subcontractors, being on-site working with our team to complete testing and supervising, and managing site investigation or working in the office to analyse data and complete accurate interpretive reports. You will be working within a supportive and collaborative team across a wide range of geological settings and ground hazards, contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects across Scotland.
In this role, you’ll be able to develop your engineering and geology skills, whether that be going for a professional chartership or accreditation or moving into managing large projects and teams – we’ll be here to support you and help you grow. This role offers a mixture of office and site-based work based around Scotland where no two weeks are the same. Our dynamic team delivers projects of all shapes and sizes — from major infrastructure schemes to local commercial and residential developments — giving you the chance to broaden your experience and develop your skills.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage intrusive investigations (e.g. drilling, sampling, in-situ testing)
- Log soils and rocks to BS standards
- Liaise and manage clients, subcontractors, and internal teams supporting our senior leaders to ensure our jobs run smoothly
- Keep detailed site records, complete RAMS, and manage H&S documentation
- Report writing and data interpretation skills
- Take ownership of site activities, with strong support from experienced mentors as well as mentoring graduates
- Maintain accurate site records, logs, and daily reports
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with specifications, standards, and method statements
- Data processing and report preparation as required
Who We’re Looking For
Enthusiastic engineering technicians who:
- Have a relevant degree in geology, engineering or similar
- 4+ Years in ground investigations
- Thrive on working outdoors, independently and in teams
- Knowledge and understanding of safe working and SHEQ Culture
- Have a full UK driving licence and are happy to travel/stay away as needed
- Experience of direct exposure to site works, decision making, risk assessment, basic design and implementation of projects
You may also have:
- CSCS Card, First Aid, EUSR HSG47 CAT 1 & 2
- Awareness of environmental legislation or industry H&S best practices
- Desire to work towards a relevant chartership
