Mason Advisory is an award‑winning digital and technology consultancy helping organisations deliver real business value through smarter use of technology. Since 2014, we’ve partnered with public and private sector clients to solve complex challenges across digital transformation, cloud, architecture, cyber security, sourcing, and major IT change programmes. We’re proud of our culture — open, supportive, and genuinely collaborative. We value people as much as expertise, and we’re committed to diversity, inclusion, and positive community impact. As we enter our next phase of growth, we are strengthening our consulting team with experienced Senior IT Sourcing Specialists who want to make a visible impact.

As a Senior Consultant specialising in Technology Sourcing, you’ll work across the full engagement lifecycle — shaping proposals, defining sourcing strategies, leading procurement processes, running commercial negotiations, and advising clients at senior levels. You’ll join a high‑performing, non‑hierarchical team where your contribution is recognised and your professional development is actively supported. You’ll enable clients to modernise their technology services, optimise spend, and secure commercial outcomes that support major digital and IT transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of sourcing, procurement, and commercial advisory engagements within a technology and shared services context.
  • Support clients in developing sourcing strategies and operating models for technology and business services.
  • Design and run end‑to‑end procurement processes, including category strategy, tendering, evaluation, and supplier selection.
  • Develop and negotiate service schedules, commercial models, and supplier agreements.
  • Define technical and service requirements for technology and shared service categories.
  • Identify cost savings, value creation opportunities, and commercial or supplier‑related risks.
  • Assess and enhance procurement governance, controls, and policies.
  • Produce clear, insight‑led reports, business cases, evaluation summaries, and recommendations.
  • Manage day‑to‑day client relationships and oversee multiple workstreams.
  • Coach and support junior consultants and contribute to team capability building.
  • Support proposals, bids, and wider business development activity.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience in sourcing, procurement, commercial, or consulting roles.
  • Some experience of working in a consulting environment.
  • Hands‑on delivery of sourcing or procurement initiatives in technology or shared business service environments.
  • Experience working across complex spend categories such as IT, professional services, indirects, or major transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of service components and considerations across key technology towers (e.g., infrastructure, cloud, networks, digital services).
  • In‑depth knowledge of the procurement lifecycle, contract management, and supplier risk.
  • Understanding of sourcing trends, including Agile sourcing and modern procurement methodologies.
  • Proven experience working with senior stakeholders such as CFOs, COOs, CPOs, and Commercial Directors.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering cost savings or commercial improvements.
  • Experience with UK public sector procurement frameworks and familiarity with UK procurement regulations.
  • Ability to obtain UK security clearance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, supply chain, or related field.
  • Professional qualifications such as CIPS or MCIPS preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial analysis capability.
  • Excellent negotiation, supplier‑management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Structured, data‑driven problem‑solving ability.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to balance cost, risk, performance, and relationship considerations in complex environments.

How to prepare for a job interview at Mason Advisory Limited

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
