Come and build a life somewhere extraordinary. Executive Chef for high end, laid back multi award winning luxury Boutique Hotel operation on a private Island just off the coast of Australia. This world class property has been voted the No1 Boutique Hotel In Australia & South Pacific for a number of years since 2020.
Enjoy a world class working environment & a good chunk of island lifestyle :)
Base salary circa $110k AUD + Bonus plus your own private on site accommodation, all your meals, bills, internet, laundry & monthly outgoings are provided for you - so you will have ZERO monthly costs. The current Executive Chef has funded the building of 3 homes from scratch over the past 10 years. You will enjoy the full range of activities & the island lifestyle on your two days off per week!
The food philosophy is simple: world-class ingredients, exceptional seafood, beautiful presentation and flavours that allow the produce to do the talking. The current Executive Chef describes the local fish as some of the finest he has worked with anywhere in the world.
This is not a role for someone chasing the next Michelin Star, a bigger brigade or a move into corporate. We are looking to speak with established Executive Chefs and Executive Head Chefs who have operated within fine dining, luxury hotel or high-standard rosetted environments (minimum 2 Rosette level or equivalent) for a number of years.
Whilst technical ability is important, personality, leadership style and lifestyle fit are equally critical. The Island is home to a small, close-knit community where relationships matter. Candidates who value community, simplicity, the outdoors and a slower pace of life often thrive here.
Life on a remote paradise island is hugely rewarding, but it is different. Weather can impact deliveries, ingredients occasionally become unavailable and solutions need to be found. The successful candidate will be calm under pressure, practical, resourceful and capable of adapting when plans change.
Candidates who have worked in remote locations, rural environments, destination hotels, country house hotels or close-knit communities may find themselves particularly well suited to this opportunity. Equally, those who enjoy fishing, gardening, foraging, the outdoors and a slower pace of life often thrive in this environment.
This opportunity is likely to appeal to someone looking for more than simply their next job. We are looking for a long-term Executive Chef + partner who are excited by the prospect of becoming part of a unique island community and building a life in one of the most beautiful locations in the world.
The kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily alongside picnics, BBQ experiences and daily changing menus. You should therefore be highly organised, adaptable and comfortable working with exceptional fresh produce across multiple styles of service. Strong fish preparation skills are essential as is a solid working knowledge of pastry and bakery. Experience managing dietary requirements and delivering consistently high standards to well-travelled guests will also be highly advantageous.
We are particularly interested in hearing from Executive Chefs who have built successful careers within country house hotels, luxury destination restaurants, boutique hotels and remote hospitality environments. Longevity and stability within previous Executive Chef appointments will be viewed favourably.
Eligibility – IMPORTANT – Please read thru carefully & only apply for this role if you can fulfil the following criteria:
- You must be eligible for an Australian Working Holiday Visa which covers you & your partner for the first 12 months of your employment.
- After the first year your employer has the option to sponsor you for a full Australian Visa or extend your WHV by an additional 2 years.
- The key criteria is that you are under the age of 35 years old at the time of travel & you do not have any criminal convictions.
- The role is only open to candidates relocating with a partner.
Having recruited to the Island for many years, the owners have found that individuals who relocate as part of a couple tend to settle into island life more successfully and stay significantly longer. This role is therefore aimed at people looking to build a life and become part of the local community, rather than simply enjoy a short-term overseas adventure.
Suitable employment opportunities will be made available for your partner, even if they do not currently work within hospitality. The resort has a strong community and a wide variety of job functions available on site. For this reason, applications can only be considered from candidates whose partner is fully supportive of the move and excited about relocating alongside them.
If you apply & your experience aligns we will call you to discuss your CV within a couple of days of your application being made. Please respond promptly to our calls/emails as we receive high response volumes for these roles & are unable to leave multiple messages for candidates that apply.
