What you'll be doing:

  • Distribution & Operations Management: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of 2 Despatchers, 2 Delivery Drivers, and 1 Van Sales Driver. Ensure timely and accurate order dispatch and delivery execution. Monitor delivery schedules and resolve operational issues to maintain service levels. Collaborate with warehousing teams to align picking, packing, and dispatch activities.
  • Haulage & Cost Control: Act as the primary point of contact for all third-party haulage companies. Negotiate rates and manage relationships with haulage providers. Monitor and control haulage spend to ensure adherence to budget targets. Analyse transport costs and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and savings.
  • Fleet Management: Oversee the maintenance and servicing schedules for all company vehicles. Ensure all fleet vehicles are roadworthy, compliant with legal regulations, and properly documented. Coordinate repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime. Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, servicing, and associated costs.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all transport operations comply with relevant regulations and company policies. Promote and enforce high standards of health & safety across all distribution activities. Conduct regular checks to ensure driver compliance with legal and operational requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to the distribution team. Monitor performance and provide coaching to improve efficiency and productivity. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Working hours: You'll work five days out of seven, as part of a 45 hour working week.

  • Proven experience in distribution, logistics, or fleet management.
  • Strong understanding of haulage operations and cost control.
  • Experience managing or supervising teams in a logistics environment.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance scheduling and fleet compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • It would be beneficial if you were proficient in logistics or transport management systems.
