Service Engineer – High Pressure Chemical Lab Reactors Do you have a passion for developing your hands-on engineering skills working on industry-leading equipment? Ready for your calling? This specialist equipment provider is searching for a well-rounded mechanically biased engineer, ideally with exposure of chemical reactors (lab, pilot or industrial scale) or other high-pressure equipment. With customers across the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech and academia sectors they are now looking for a dedicated engineer to provide a first-class service to its customers. Rewards & Benefits * £40K – £57K Basic Salary (dependent on experience) * 15% Bonus * Company Car / Car Allowance * Travel Expenses * Up to 7% Pension * Private Healthcare (Family cover) * 25 Days Holiday + 3-5 Days Christmas Shutdown + Public Holidays * Death In Service About The Role As a Service Engineer you will work at my clients\’ service centre and on customers sites across the UK (with an average of 4 nights away per month). Any travel is conducted Mon-Fri and therefore doesn’t encroach on weekends. Responsibilities include: * Operating in a 10-20% presales and 80-90% post-sales support role. * Being involved in key technical discussions alongside the Product Specialist on more advanced and complex projects. (approximately 6-7 projects per year where you input may be required) * CAD Design – training given. * Working on floor standing lab and occasionally pilot scale chemical reactor systems. * Troubleshooting issues with returned instruments be it problems with the rupture discs, valves, vessel, electric heater or temperature and stirrer controllers. * Operating in a 65-70% mechanical and 30-35% electrical engineering role. (A qualified electrician isn\’t needed) * Visiting customers to complete new equipment installations and commissioning which can take anywhere from 0.5 to 3 days dependent on how complex the system is. (approximately 20 new installations per year) * Visiting a variety of Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Academia clients. * Liaising with customers directly to schedule your own service visits. * Conducting routine service and calibration work, alongside more reactive maintenance, including fault finding and problem resolution. * Working on equipment ranging from £50K to £300K in value. * Completing service visit reports. * Prebuild and assembly of systems in advance of the customer installation date. * Learning and developing your skills on new instruments as you evolve within the company. About You The successful candidate must be multiskilled (electromechanical) with a mechanical bias and possess hands-on experience as a service engineer / technician on high pressure systems, reactors or affiliated chemical equipment. It\’s essential you have a logical and methodical approach to fault-finding, enjoy a diverse role and possess engineering qualifications such as a time served apprenticeship, City & Guilds, HNC, HND or Degree. Any experience using CAD design software would be highly advantageous but not essential, as is a knowledge or education in Chemical Engineering.
