To lead communications for Global Offshore Wind & UK vertical, drafting internal and external content on behalf of the Director, including speeches, op-eds, articles, and key event messaging, while ensuring alignment with Masdar’s corporate priorities. To actively track, analyse, and communicate relevant policy and regulatory developments, enabling timely and informed responses. To maintain proactive engagement with key stakeholders, including government bodies, regulators, and industry partners, supporting the Director in prioritising and preparing for high-impact meetings. To keep colleagues informed through clear internal updates on major announcements and relevant external developments, coordinate with HQ Communications on conferences to maintain consistent, strategic messaging that strengthens Masdar’s influence and leadership in the offshore wind & BESS sectors. This position requires deep regulatory and policy expertise.
Responsibilities
- Communications Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement an annual communications plan and strategic roadmap for the Global Offshore Wind & UK BESS vertical.
- Provide inputs for budgeting, resource allocation, and prioritisation to support effective delivery of communications objectives.
- Communications Development & Delivery
- Lead the drafting and preparation of speeches, op-eds, articles, talking points, and event messaging on behalf of the Director & SLT, tailored to target audiences and strategic objectives.
- Support the Director’s Office by preparing materials and communications for internal Town Halls and other key engagement forums.
- Ensure all internal and external communications reflect Masdar’s corporate priorities, brand identity, and positioning.
- Develop and deliver thought-leadership content to strengthen Masdar’s profile in the global offshore wind and UK BESS sectors.
- In collaboration with Commercial team; monitor, analyse, and interpret global and UK-specific policy, legislative, and regulatory developments impacting offshore wind and BESS activities.
- Prepare timely, concise briefings to inform leadership decision-making and strategic planning.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities arising from policy changes and recommend proactive engagement strategies.
- Strategic Stakeholder Engagement & Government Relations
- Support the Director in prioritising and preparing for engagements with government officials, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders.
- Develop and implement tailored engagement strategies for key external stakeholders, including senior government figures and regulators, to advance Masdar’s strategic objectives.
- Prioritise & lead engagement with government agencies throughout the policy development cycle (incl. consultation & drafting stages).
- Coordinate briefing packs, talking points, and follow-up actions to ensure impactful stakeholder interactions.
- Maintain an up-to-date stakeholder mapping and relationship management system.
- Media Relations & Campaign Management
- Liaise with external media agencies to manage Masdar UK’s media presence and campaigns related to offshore wind and UK BESS businesses.
- Assess and recommend responses to media enquiries, ensuring alignment with corporate messaging and strategic priorities.
- Proactively pitch announcements and stories to relevant media outlets to maximise coverage and visibility.
- Identify, plan, and deliver targeted media campaigns that support business objectives and enhance Masdar’s reputation.
- Collate and analyse media coverage to ensure adequate action and responses as required.
- Lead specific relevant local media relations & campaigns & ensure alignment with HQ Comms (e.g., local newspaper articles for BESS sites).
- Internal Communications & Alignment
- Lead internal communications for the Global Offshore Wind & UK BESS vertical, ensuring timely updates on key announcements, market developments, and strategic priorities.
- Draft clear and engaging internal updates, ensuring all colleagues remain informed and aligned.
- Act as a primary liaison between the GOFSW&UK Vertical & HQ Communications, Branding & Marketing teams to ensure information flows effectively & priorities are aligned.
- Event & Conference Coordination
- Collaborate with HQ Communications & UK Office Management to plan and execute Masdar’s participation in conferences, exhibitions, and other strategic events.
- Identify & prioritise external conferences and events to ensure alignment with Masdar’s strategic goals and maximise impact.
- Prepare consistent messaging, briefing materials, speeches and content to maximise Masdar’s visibility and influence.
- Management of stakeholders and third party service providers
- Ensure relationships with service level providers are managed smoothly and effectively in a way that guarantees that Masdar is provided with quality and timely services, in line with relevant service level agreements.
- As and when required by management, support building key relationships/negotiations with relevant internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure the negotiation and agreement of favourable deals that safeguard Masdar’s best interests while ensuring the delivery of necessary needs/goals.
- Continuous improvement of policies, systems and processes
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and implementation of unit systems, policies and procedures covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements and standards are fulfilled while ensuring that policies and procedures support delivery of the strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or relevant Master’s degree from a top-tier internationally recognised higher education institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, mass communication or related discipline.
Preferred Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in corporate communications and content development in large and reputable organisations and a proven track record in delivering content in a challenging environment or an equivalent experience.
Job-Specific Skills:
- Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills leading to a consultative approach within a corporate / multifunctional environment.
- Strong understanding of policies & market trends impacting offshore wind & BESS technologies in the UK and Europe, including key stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Knowledge of diverse communications media and channels and latest trends.
- Good experience of budget management.
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
- Excellent computer literacy, with strong background in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
