About us: Located by Wandsworth Common, with a projected turnover of £9 million for this financial year, Mascot Bespoke Homes was established in 2008 by our directors Chris Scott and Jonathan Martin. From their first venture, renovating a flat in Battersea, to the bespoke luxury full house renovation and new build projects we undertake today, Chris and Jonathan’s mission has remained constant: Mascot Bespoke Homes believe that we should take the small details just as seriously as the ‘big stuff’. The typical contract value of our high-end residential projects is between £1.5-£4 million and we manage up to 9 jobs at any one time within a 3-mile radius of our office.
The role: Reporting to our Company Directors, Chris Scott and Jonathan Martin, and working closely with our Quantity Surveyor and Contracts Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our Company Directors, Contracts Manager, Quantity Surveyor and key stakeholders both internally and externally to support the management of financial and contractual aspects of multiple high-end residential construction projects. You will play a vital part in ensuring project profitability by managing costs, securing competitive pricing, and delivering efficient, commercially sound solutions throughout the planning and construction phases. This is an exciting role providing hands-on involvement in major, prime, projects across London. The role of Assistant Quantity Surveyor offers mentoring, on the job training, and development opportunities from senior staff alongside the chance to be part of a supportive, close-knit commercial team within a business that has an outstanding industry reputation.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing estimations, cost plans, bills of quantities and tender submissions to required timescales
- Support measurement and take-offs from drawings and specifications, under supervision
- Assisting with the preparation of variation documentation
- Work with the commercial team to evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Assist with cost tracking, valuations and payment applications
- Support with procurement and contract administration duties, managing maintenance of project files, commercial records, and cost data
- Help prepare financial reports, cost forecasts and progress updates
- Attend site visits to monitor progress, variations and record-keeping
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, H&S requirements and industry standards
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to gather information and to ensure best available pricing is secured
- Help prepare financial reports, cost forecasts and progress updates
- Support with management of subcontractor contracts, ensuring all variations are properly documented
- Attend site client meetings where required, ensuring key information is accurately recorded and actioned in accordance with the projects requirements
- Support the Quantity Surveyor to liaise closely with the Mascot finance team to ensure accurate and timely cost reporting
- Support with integration of internal programs for Mascot's ongoing projects

- A multi-tasker, you are able to manage multiple deadlines under pressure
- A positive attitude and good humour are invaluable. Perfection is not always possible, but resolving issues with a pro-active, ‘can do’ approach is essential to this role
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
- Experience in a similar Assistant QS role, ideally within specialist contracting or main contracting and preferably within a smaller organisation
- Strong commercial awareness and numerical ability
- Strong Excel skills
- Familiar with Bluebeam (or similar software), though not essential
- An eagerness to develop professionally
- A full UK driving licence is preferred, though not essential
