You will play a key role in supporting production, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to continuous improvement within the business.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating Star sliding head and Nakamura fixed head machines to produce high-quality precision components, ensuring production targets and quality standards are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting and operating CNC Star sliding head and Nakamura fixed head machines
- Producing first-off samples for the Quality Manger to review
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Performing in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment
- Adjusting tooling, offsets, and machine parameters to maintain quality
- Carrying out routine maintenance checks and ensuring machines are in good working order
- Maintaining coolant levels and general machine upkeep
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety standards
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Accurately completing job documentation and recording production data
- Supporting continuous improvement and efficiency within the workshop
- The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in CNC setting and operating within precision engineering
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience working to tight tolerances
- Experience working on batch sizes of 500-50000
- Good understanding of tooling, offsets and machining processes
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills
- Flexible and willing to work overtime when required
- Strong awareness of health & safety practices
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience across a range of CNC machines or control systems
- Previous experience in any of the sectors listed below
